My life a Tram

Mt life, a Tram

Stage: Completed

Written and directed by Anne Mason

5 minutes, 2010

My life, a Tram, is a story about Bernie - he likes to ride trams. Bernie does the same thing everyday, it is a way to maintain any form of normalcy he might have. After Bernie's fathers death, he is unsure how to continue in life, so he does what he always did. This silent, weary repetition is tragic and yet uplifting in the way Bernie goes about it.

It is a confused, lonely, bittersweet, nostalgic story filled with regret. Bernie still maintains a hopeful wonderland for the simple world he lives in, everyday when he chooses to ride the trams again.

In a world riddled with uncertainty, Bernie's commitment to give his life order through very simple means resonates long and loud.

while sad, his story gives a hint of contentment for a simple soul who wants nothing more than to follow a father's wisdom and be able to predict his own movements, almost oblivious to those around him

In this beautifully shot, tight production, our message is not groundbreaking, nor new, but a valuable reminder that simplicity is an art. Trams may be carry Bernie on an inexorable journey beyond his control, but he knows when it's time to step off.
